Our teachers are dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of music in each student, training them in the fundamentals while guiding them on a fulfilling artistic journey. We carefully select passionate and skilled instructors, many of whom are professionals that perform regularly and/or have college degrees in music.

Music Teachers

  • Sophia Nelson

    Violin- $140/month

    Sophia has been playing the violin for over fifteen years. She has learned from top violinists in southern Arizona and attended violin programs, intensive music camps, and workshops. She has played for events and performances both as a soloist, in orchestras, and in chamber music programs.

    Sophia finds joy in helping her students reach their goals in playing music while learning and improving from the twists and turns along the way. Her goal is to make music understandable and enjoyable--no matter where in life the student may be. Music is a blessing, it is never too early or too late to learn!

  • Dylan Lawes

    Drums - $140/month

    Dylan Lawes is thrilled to join the Monteiro Studios team as a dedicated drum instructor. With a lifelong passion for music, Dylan has explored many genres and instruments, but has been focussed on honing his drumming skills for more than five years. His focus is on sharing the love and thrill of learning, creating, and performing on the drum set.

  • Teo Cano

    Bass, Guitar - $160/month

    Teo Cano is currently studying both music education and Instrumental Performance at Northwest Nazarene University, with a noticeable involvement in the local music scene. Whether it's jazz, rock, worship, funk, gospel, metal, or even country, he's seen it and played it. Seeking to expand his knowledge and extend his understanding, he currently takes his own private lessons under professional musicians, such as the principal bassist for the Boise Philharmonic.

    Natalie Stone

    Voice- $180/month‍ ‍Piano, Guitar - $160/month

    Natalie Stone is a dedicated music educator and performer with a passion for helping students discover their unique musical voice. She teaches voice, piano, and guitar, drawing from years of experience working with students of all ages and skill levels.

    Natalie holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from Boise State University and spent five years teaching in the public school system as both a general music educator and choral director. This background has given her a strong foundation in music pedagogy and the ability to connect with students in meaningful and engaging ways.

    In addition to teaching, Natalie is an active performing vocalist in the Treasure Valley, where she shares her love of music on stage as well as in the classroom. She is passionate about creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where students can grow in confidence, develop their skills, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music.

  • Saxophone Clarinet Lessons Nampa Music

    Colby Turpen

    Saxophone, Jazz Studies - $180/month Jazz Combos - $100/month

    Colby Turpen earned degrees in Music Education and Jazz Performance from the University of Wyoming. As a saxophonist, he's had the opportunity to perform across the U.S., including in New York City at the prestigious Jack Rudin Jazz Championship, where he played lead alto and helped his ensemble earn the Outstanding Saxophone Section Award. Colby's performances have also taken him abroad to France and Italy. Turpen currently teaches at Lowell Scott Middle School, where he enjoys sharing his passion for music with his students. Born and raised in Nampa, Colby is excited to be performing and teaching back in his hometown.

  • Madeline Jorgensen Voice and Piano Teacher, Nampa ID

    Madeline Jorgensen

    Madeline Jorgensen is passionate about vocal education and vocal health. A lover of music for as long as she can remember, Madeline firmly believes that God created humans to sing and make music, and that holistic vocal teaching leads to healthy and beautiful singing. Madeline is an Idaho native who received her BM in vocal performance from Biola University and is currently working on her MM in contemporary vocal pedagogy at Shenandoah University. Madeline has taught privately in both Los Angeles and locally in Nampa, and has been involved in groups with Opera Idaho, Alley Repertory Theatre, Idaho Shakespeare, and Boise Music Week. Madeline currently teaches voice at Northwest Nazarene University as well as choir and band at Nampa Christian Middle School. Madeline is a lifelong learner and is always open and excited to learn from each of her students.

  • Jocelyn Schroeder

    Cello - $180/month Piano - $160/month

    Jocelyn Schroeder completed her BM in Cello Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and studied the Kodály Concept of Music Education at the Kodály Institute in Hungary. She received two levels of Suzuki String Pedagogy training and has taught cello and piano lessons at the NSA Conservatory of Music in Moscow, ID. Besides teaching, she performs regularly, has played with various symphony orchestras and has over a decade of chamber music experience. When Jocelyn is not making music, you can find her backpacking in the wilderness with her husband.

  • Casey Christopher

    Trombone - $180/month Brass Studies - $160/month Chamber Ensembles - $100/month

    Dr. Casey Christopher earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance from Arizona State University in 1996. As a performer, he has played with the Phoenix Symphony, the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, and the prestigious Summit Brass. As a teacher, he served as Professor of Music for 22 years at Northwest Nazarene University, where he built music industry and jazz programs. He now serves as Chief Musician at The King’s Congregation in Meridian, Idaho. Despite many credentials, Dr. Christopher remains primarily committed to the deep joy found in exploring the language of music with students of all ages.

  • Nick Monteiro

    Piano, Jazz Piano, Songwriting - $180/month

    Nickolas Monteiro earned his bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID. He also studied Songwriting and Performance at The Contemporary Music Center in Nashville. Nick has performed hundreds of live shows, both in the Treasure Valley and across the U.S., Brazil, and China. Since 2023, Nick has taught over 100 music students and led masterclasses at the College of Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, and local high schools. Nick is currently the owner of Monteiro Studios Music School and performs weekly at Chandlers and Hotel Renegade in Boise. 

  • Megan Monteiro

    Piano, Flute - $180/month‍ Group Piano ‍- $100/month

    Megan Monteiro grew up surrounded by music in all areas of life: around the dinner table, with her church congregation, and every day at school. She began formal piano training at age 5, later adding flute, voice, guitar, ukulele, and eventually viola. In 2020, at 18, she graduated with a degree in Music Industry from Northwest Nazarene University, where she managed the jazz program and led a two-week tour to China. She transitioned to full-time teaching in 2021, providing private lessons to over 50 students and leading elementary music classes at the Independent Learning Academy, Ethos Academy, and The Ambrose School. Committed to ongoing professional growth, she is currently pursuing Kodály Levels training. Megan also co-founded Monteiro Studios Music School with her husband, Nick. Above all, her most rewarding role is as a wife to Nick and mother to their daughter, Eileen.

Any student can sign up with any tier of teacher. Music Teacher, Mentor, and Master refers to the overall experience level of each instructor. For example, beginner students may sign up for lessons with Masters and advanced students may sign up with Music Teachers.
